Crises drive change: Stories from within the transformation of Nestlé's palm oil value chain
Koen van Seijen is author and host of the Investing in Regenerative Agriculture podcast series. Back in May, Koen and I recorded a long and wonderful chat which he published on his podcast on June 4th.
Koen loves to dive deep into the history and context of things and, while he was fascinated by my work helping companies like Nestlé to move away from deforestation, our discussion started with him asking about where I grew up and how I came to be a forester. He was intrigued to learn about how a young lad from the Australian bush ended up supporting the launch of the world’s first No Deforestation commitments. It all started with earthworms!
We dived into the work I led to transform the garden furniture sector and found TFT and our expansion into the palm oil. We could have talked for hours as Koen asked intriguing question after intriguing question.
In the end, we spoke about the opportunity for biochar and other ancient technologies to help us move to a more regenerative future and how crises are agents for change.
