Retreats
a different way
My friend Julien Troussier and I hosted our first retreat in the majestic beauty of the Gran Paradiso National Park in Cogne, Italy in June 2016. Ten brave pioneers participated over five intense days in walks, readings, reflections and sharing in what was essentially an experiment to explore whether the Values-Transparency-Transformation-Verification model we’d pioneered to help organisations at TFT could be extended to help individuals. Instead of the business’ Values, we asked, “What are your Values?” Are you living true to them? If not, what might you change and who among your friends and colleagues could help you stay aligned?
We learned so much and got such great feedback that we refined our approach and continued to offer more opportunities for these profound connections. We’ve now conducted many different Retreats, all around the world, over different timeframes - half day events, full days, two days and yes, the pinnacle, five day Retreats for the deepest dive and the most profound connection.
We invite participants to explore their past, present and possible futures, to get connected to themselves and to listen to that voice inside them. Yes, it’s about that Duck again. We make sure these are intimate events with no more than 12 participants. We continue to get great feedback from everyone who joins.
Within organisations
Julien and I have also hosted Retreats for groups from within a single organisation. The aim is to build a strong culture within teams and across the organisation.
We supported the on-boarding of Nestlé’s Global Sourcing Team during an intense week-long field trip through Thailand, visiting Ports, sugar cane farmers and smallholder palm oil growers.
Within TFT/Earthworm Foundation, more than 80 people have participated in a series of one and two day Retreats but also six different deep-dive, five day Retreats.
We hosted a two day Retreat for a group of 14 French CEOs from the Association of Professional Manager’s Leman Group.
These Retreats have had a huge impact on participants, as is evidenced by the testimonials below. The organisational benefits have also been profound with senior executives citing stronger team work, and an empowered culture of acting according to personal and company values.
