Feeling Good Removing Carbon From The Atmosphere
I had a great chat with one of our My Carbon Zero Community members this morning. He’d just gone through the process to work out his lifetime carbon balance using our My Carbon Zero calculator and he’d bought his first ever Carbon Removal Credit. He was feeling pretty good!
It does feel good!
You feel you’re taking your own action, not waiting for someone to tell you to do something, not waiting for someone else to fix the problem for you. You have agency and you’re using it.
Chris invested in Kijani Forestry, our terrific project partner in Uganda. You can learn more about what the Kijani team are doing here.
When I setup My Carbon Zero, I worked out my own lifetime carbon balance and when I invested in my first project – another great My Carbon Zero partner, Trillion Trees Australia – I just had this terrific sense that I was part of the solution. The 560 trees I funded are still growing strong. I’ve since invested in Husk’s work in Cambodia, and I invested in Kijani too. I’m saving up now to invest in our two new fantastic partners – Durrell’s “Rewilding Carbon” project in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and RiceHouse in Italy.
Step by precious step I’m investing when I can and my initial balance of 520tCO2 is on track to come down to 320tCO2 as the trees I’ve supported grow and the biochar that’s been made with my investment is already in the ground, locking away that carbon.
What’s super great about all our project partners is that not only does the work they do draw carbon from the atmosphere, it also helps communities and biodiversity, they really do help the planet!
It feels great to be drawing my carbon out of the atmosphere, I feel I’m doing what I can. It feels absolutely super sensational great to know that I’m also supporting community livelihoods and helping conserve animals and plants in the process.
I love My Carbon Zero.
